Who We Are

At Loring Psychotherapy & Mindfulness Center we bring curiosity, compassion and commitment to our clients as they seek to change their lives in focused or sweeping ways. We have a vision of possibilities, and believe that radical change in patterns of thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that limit our relationship to self and others is possible.

Sandra KacherWe believe that the insights gained in the therapy hour are most meaningful as they translate into our lives moment to moment. For this reason we encourage insight paired with action, specific changes in daily life, and fully entering the “here and now”. We address the needs of the whole person – physical, emotional,Susan Bourgerie social, and spiritual – in order to bring about lasting change, and refer to a network of other skilled and like-minded professionals to support our work with clients when appropriate.

Both of us draw from western psychotherapy models – psychodynamic, family systems, cognitive behavioral, positive psychology, Internal Family Systems, narrative approaches, and competency-based therapy. We also draw from Eastern wisdom traditions, their practices of mindfulness and meditation and their application in the forms of mindfulness-based therapy, Naikan, and Morita Therapy.
